According to my friend's advices, the choice is between being next to the city centre - that's to say north of the campus - or staying within a students environment - that's in the south, a bit far from centre, but there's planty of buses there! -. So avoid the centre of the campus around Rusholme! My first choice would be Oak House, then maybe Whitworth Park, and i have to decide the third one. ciao for now
