Economic Analysis of Law
Sun Jul 24, 2005 01:49 PM
Can someone give some advice which law schools are strong in the field of Economic Analysis of Law?
I have figured out that Chicago is in the lead in that field, since some faculty members are regarded as pioneers. But which law schools are focused on Economic Analysis, too?
Thanks for any estimations.

Hi

You should consider College of Law of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where Pr Thomas Ullen is a leading scholar in the field of Law and Economics.

Thanks for your info.
Is this a smaller program at Uni of Illinois? How much LLM's are studying there each year?
A few minutes ago I found a ranking in that field but Illinois wasn't listed. These rankings usually does not mean a lot, so I decided to look out for further advice....

Hi

University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC) has one of the oldest and most respected LL.M program in the US which accepts only 30-32 students-judges-lawyers-scholars/year. The Law school is famous for its Law and Economics department chaired by Pr Thomas Ulen who has written with Robert Cooter the now classic book in that field " Law and Economics" now in its fourth edition which has been translated in many languages. cf www.cooter-ulen.com for more details.
Moreover if you like WTO law,UIUC benefits of the presence of Prof William Davey, former WTO legal director, who is one of the world specialist in that field with Prof Jackson of Georgetown.(have written a book together).
