I also received an acceptance email from Lund today, for those who are wondering about timing.

Steph, I'm wondering if you plan to continue to live in Copenhagen while you attend Lund?

Hi Amy,
I will continue to live in Copenhagen. It's only 45mins by train and I have an apartment which I share with my boyfriend (who is danish). I'm kind of hoping that I'll make some friends that won't mind me crashing on their floor if there's a party.
Are you going to accept the offer? Was it for the HRs or the HRs and IP?
Congratulations on your place.

Hi Steph,

I was accepted to the new programme - International Human Rights and International Labour Rights. I haven't accepted the offer yet - I'm still mulling it over. If I do accept, I was hoping to live in Copenhagen as well, but can't figure out whether I would be allowed to do so as I would only have a Swedish residence permit. Any suggestions?

Amy,
It really depends where you come from. Assuming you are from an EU country then you just need to have a certain amount in your bank account to get a temporary residence permit- I think around 50000DKK (but it could have changed)- this money doesn't have to be there permanently (for example you can get your parents to transfer the money to you, get a copy of the bank statement and then give it back).
On the otherhand I wouldn't suggest living in Copenhagen- living cost are much higher than in Sweden, especially re. rent . Additionally if you aren't entitled to the danish grant (SU) or the Swedish grant then you won't get reduced train fare-955dkk a month reduced and1580 dkk not reduced.
Of course I'm not trying to put you off. It would be great for me to have someone to get the train with!!!
Let me know what you think,
Steph

Hi Saroj,
I was accepted on the International Human Rights LLM. The scholarships they provide are detailed on
www.jur.lu.se/Internet/english/Master/human.nsf/(p…
The deadline for this expired on 15th February. If you already applied for a scholarship, then you just need to wait. Both scholarships are from separate organisations and they probably wait to hear if you were accepted before they make a final decision.
I hope that helps,
Steph

Hello All,
I also have been accepted (LLM in Human Rights Law). Lund University sent me an e-mail on 3rd of May. I've decided to accept their offer. Could you please let me know about accommodation details, prices etc. I know that Lund estimated monthly cost of living expenses is around 7000 SEK, but I'm hoping to reduce it. I'm willing to share an accommodation. If you know anything about anyone willing to rent less expensive flat or room please let me know. See you guys pretty soon!

Sorry,
I can't help with that one as I plan to continue living in Copenhagen. Apart from the details on their website I wouldn't know where to look.

Hi

Congratulations to stephb, RC, Saroj and all who have secured admission in the LL.M - Human Rights Programme 2006 at LU.

I have not heard any thing as yet on my application to LU for admission to the Human Rights Programme.

Are there any more applicants like me who have not received any communication on their application yet ?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Peace

I haven't heard anything either, and I've kind of given up. Even if I were to get a second round offer, I would have needed a scholarship to afford to live in Europe, and I am presuming that if I didn't make the first round, I wouldn't have been nominated for a scholarship. I hope you get an offer, though.

Hi Patricia

Thanks for your prompt response.

I am sorry to know that you too have not heard any thing. I can imagine your feelings. I too have the similar thoughts.

Practically, I too have given up but still I am hopeful of getting a good news before the end of this month at least. I wish the same for you too. Like you, I have also applied for a scholarship.

Let us see what happens in the end.

With best wishes to you

Hello All,
I'm in touch with person from Lund University and she said that acceptance letters were not send off yet. They will struggle to do it before the end of May.
Dear Stephb, RC, Saroj and others that were accepted. I'm sure you will try to organize accommodation for your staying in Sweden - my proposition is to get in touch and find something suitable. It could reduce costs of staying for all of us. What do you say?

Hi Minimania,
Sounds like a great plan with the accomodation but as I said before I won't be moving to Lund. I have an apartment in Copenhagen which is commuting distance to Lund and haven't got the money to pay 2 lots of rent a month!!!
Good luck with your search for accomodation.

Hi, RC! No, i haven't received an offer from Lund yet. I don't know what to think - maybe they won't offer me a place. I'm a bit disappointed, i have already refused Stockholm U and Leiden U offers, because i hoped to get Lund. But i still have offers from UK - Essex, Durham, Sheffield. So if it's going to be nothing from Lund this week, i think i'll accept one of those. I just don't understand why Lund does not send rejections, then i could accept the offer from other university if i'd be sure it's negative answer from Lund. But i hope for the best, because i really want to study in Lund. Congratulations on your acceptance! Lea
