Where / How can an International Student Obtain School Loans for US JD Program?

Sat May 02, 2009 08:27 PM I'm coaching a family friend who is in his last year of law school in Buenos Aires Argentina. If he is successful gaining admitance to a JD program here in the states he will need student loans to finance his way through the program. Do any of you know how realisitic it is to obtain student loans as foreginer and where/how does one go about securing these loans. Thanks, bradesp

Fri Jun 12, 2009 06:32 PM In this economy it is really hard for international students to get loans. If you are not a US citizen or permanent resident, you need to find an american co-signer and this by itself is really really hard (unless you have friends or family in the US who can do that). Other than that, you can rely on scholarships and loans from the school itself. there are some schools that give loans to their students to help them through law school. Just call the schools you are interested in to inquire about financial aid.
