I have been offered a seat at LSE for Intl Business laws and at Warwick for Intl Corp Gov and financial Reg. Thus, the gap in academic standard between Warwick and LSE is often percieved to be enormous, hence the comments on this board. I'm not saying it doesn't have an excelent reputation in the UK, all I'm saying is that, outside the UK, people tend to look at it as one of the best schools in the world. As a matter of fact, I know people from my country that turned down Oxbridge to go to LSE (a little too much for me, but what can I do?). To wrap it up, it's not that Warwick isn't good, but given LSE's reputation, there really shouldn't be a doubt when coming across an unconditional offer from them. I have to say one thing though... I really wouldn't like to live in London... so, in that particular aspect, my vote is for Warwick... but I guess I'm alone in the "I hate big cities" community... There is always the possibility that UCL or KCL may overtake LSE in law rankings long enough for their international name to overtake LSE's - particularly if they embark on international branding (if I recall correctly, one or both uni's are ranked higher than LSE with the Guardian, and this includes taking account of the new RAE). Becareful of just relying on name and rank. LSE and Warwick are both great uni's. Personally, I'd choose LSE because I think all the UoL colleges offer a better quality LLM experience than anywhere else in the UK. But if you are after a campus experience, then Warwick is one of the best choices. Also bear in mind that Warwick is following LSE's lead, and branding itself internationally (eg. it attracts high profile speakers, 'Americanising' its academic titles, establishing high profile forums eg. the Warwick Commission) etc. so expect it to have a higher profile in the future. Warwick is particularly recognised for international economic law. While I couldn't argue in favor of over-blowing any program's reputation, the idea that only Oxbridge is widely known for law outside the U.K. is categorically untrue, and I think you would be have a difficult time finding anyone in the U.S. who has any idea how good UCL and KCL really are, if they've ever heard of them to begin with.
