It means It is actually possible to rent accommodation prior to the semester start date. For example if you want to travel through Holland or sth.
I indicated the 25th Aug option, but bear in mind that UvA won't necessarily find you a room, as they just submit your application to a renting company.
Either way, it sux because from what my friends from Holland tell me I understand prices of accommodation are far lower than the one stated in this offer. Besides it's not even a campus we're talking about, just random flats throughout Amsterdam.

I would like to know if one of you have been granted a room in a student housing?
I tought we would get an answer between 10 and 12 june (Cf: The housing timetable on the accomodation form).

btw I got no email till now, while in the previos email the Amsterdam Law School (ALS) said that the confirmation email should sent in june 12 at the latest.

btw where are you come from?
and which date do you pick? july 16 , august 2 or august 25?

Hey! I am Polish. I live in Cracow. I just got an e-mail that they will inform me about housing some time next week, so I guess everybody will have information. I apllied for august 25 too. I will tell You when I get something.

hey guys,

I applied for European private law program in UVA, I send my application near end of April.

Since, I received an email stating that they will answer me soon.
And then I only received the gloabl email about the accomadation and other things like that...

Is that normal ? I didn't get a personnal notification or something saying that I was admitted.

What do you think about it?

I did not get any e-mail, but I called them, they told me that I am admitted and they sent me papers about housing etc.

I applied in dec 2008, Admitted in January 2009,
i got the paper (admission) by post in mid january.
in june 4, 2009 I got email below, and after that I sent my housing proposal and got no reply till this day.
I confuse coz they told me in attachment that I must send all the copy of passport before July 1, 2009.
do you all do the same? send copy of passport, housing etc?

Authorisation for Temporary Residence (M.V.V.). Deadline 1 Juli 2009.

Please do note that Applications for MVV’s will be processed only if the fee of € 438,- is transferred. We will not apply for your visa if you are not yet fully admitted. Please inform us if you cannot hand in all documents before June 1st.

Course registration. Deadline 1 August 2009

Students have to choose elective courses within their specialization. These elective courses can be found in the current course catalogue on www.studiegids.uva.nl/sgs/WebSite_en

For the first semester you register for courses by filling out a course registration form. This form, together with instructions, will be sent to you mid July.

If you register after the set deadline, participation in your elective courses can not be guaranteed.





Academic Calendar –> see attachment

The timetable for the first semester will be available beginning- mid August. You will be informed of this by email. You will receive a course catalogue upon arrival, in which you also find practical information on studying at the Amsterdam Law School.





Living Expenses

During your stay in Amsterdam you can expect to spend between € 800 and € 1,300 per month on living expenses. This does not include tution fee. See also: www.studeren.uva.nl/finance/object.cfm/3F4C3C60-20…



Please note: Students that require an MVV need to show proof that they have access to € 18.500,--. This is the absolute minimum amount needed for 12 months for both living and tuition fee. Without proof of sufficient finances the Amsterdam law School will not stand surety for you, and will not apply for your MVV.

I am confused about MVV (Visa)

in the last email stated that deadline for receiving the documents is july 1, 2009.

while I still got no answer for my question about
Insurance proof.

someone please help me?
how to make it?
couls I send all the documents needed by scanned email?
The documents are:
1.Copy of ALL valid Passport;
2. Proof that you have Health and Liability Insurance Coverage;
3. Proof of Your ability to finance ur Study.

Hello everyone!!!

My name is Grisselle. I'm from Panama and I'll be attending the LLM in International and European Law (PIL).

Mr_Jakarta: I'm confused, too. The problem is that tomorrow is the deadline and the haven't replied yet my email. I'm not sure how the health and liability insurance thing works. I thought I can look for something once I'm in Amsterdam.

Also, I'm a bit concern about housing. I think I'll start to look for something because if I don't get one with the ALS (in 2 months class will start!) then it'll be problematic. Any suggestions to where I can look (websites etc,)?

Btw, it seems that we don't have a facebook group. I was looking for it last time and didn't found anything. Any volunteer?

Less than 2 hours before receiving the email stating the "good news", they sent me one telling "You will have an answer before the 15th of august ... it is very hard to find a room in Amsterdam, especially when you are not in the city... bla bla bla".
Two months before the start... :S :S :S :( That sucks!!

I am guessing nobody got a housing offer then...
How does that work? They assure you that accommodating international students is their highest priority.
And with 1000 rooms on offer, they just turn down everyone...
Guess I'll meet you all in one of the hostels, come the end August :p
