I'm curious to hear from Canadians who did their first law degrees in Canada and were accepted into Oxford or Cambridge. I'm about to enter my 3rd year in McGill's BCL/LLB program. PLUSES: At the moment, I'm ranked 1st in my class (though the differences in GPA are slight and your guess is as good as mine if that will stay throughout the year). On the Journal. Worked at a top international firm this summer. WEAKNESSES: Haven't published anything. Though rank is high, GPA is about 3.65 (McGill has a harsh grading scheme compared to other Canadian, let alone North American, schools). The grades are my concern. To what extent, if any, do UK schools look at rank or take the grading schemes at different Canadian and US schools into account? Also, if anyone did the McGill BCL/LLB program and is now at Oxford, which grad. program are you in (MJur or BCL) given that McGill's program is a first degree in both common and civil law?
