LLM in the US by Distance Learning
Hey folks. I currently live and work in the UK and passed the Feb 09 NY Bar (what a nightmare!) and I am due to be admitted in NY imminently. Tue Sep 08, 2009 08:53 PM My goal is to move to NY and find work as an attorney (in investment funds, which is my specialism) and I have been thinking about doing an LLM from a US university by distance learning (as I am not ready to give up my job and go to the US for full-time study, unless I have a job lined up): 1. Are there any reputable LLMs by distance learning offered by US universities 2. Will an LLM from a US university improve a foreign educated attorney's job prospects in the US (I already have an LLB from the UK) Your thoughts are most welcome |

My online LLM and JSD program, now in its 12 year, is geared toward international financial services, specifically to international finance and to compliance related issues.Fri Oct 02, 2009 09:59 PM My students are older, normally managers or executives in financial service firms, like HSBC, Barclays, and various government departments. However, to maintain our advanced teaching level, we do require five years experience, and still only allow ten students maximum per course because of our group case study approach. In the finance instrument courses, we examine numerous Western oriented and Islamic deals using Westlaw Business and its Islamic Financial Centre, Wolter Kluwer Financial Services database, as well as several investment firm lecturers. The finance courses are already pre-approved for the educational requirements for a few of the FINRA listed professional designations. Finally, our post-docs have the opportunity to engage with a variety of publication opportunities via our treatises with Lexis, West, and Wolters Kluwer. Take a look at my blog - if the faculty and courses, and prerequisites are a fit, you can set up an interview with the relevant concentration coordinator from there. williambyrnes.wordpress.com/faculty/ |
