LSAC - HELP!!!
I have sent you a P.M.Thu Sep 24, 2009 05:48 PM I believe it wouldn't bepossible to cancel you LSAC account and send your transcripts directly to the law schools. Anyway, check the P.M. and then we calk talk more about it. Rds., Augusto |

LSAC - HELP!!!
As I have written before, I can not recommend LSAC due to the fact that they don't have any clue about foreign legal education systems and their grading scales. Therefore, the LSAC evaluation does - generally - not reflect your grades compared to other students from your home country. I don't think that LSAC would change your evaluation. However, I guess that the universities have staff members that know how to evaluate your application. Finally, don't forget: your CV (resume) is part of your application as well as the statement(s).Thu Sep 24, 2009 06:37 PM Btw: I was also graded by LSAC as above average, but I was still accepted by the universities I applied to. |

LSAC - HELP!!!
My advice for future applicants: don't use LSAC in order to avoid those problems. I know so many applicants that were really unsatisfied with LSAC (including myself). However, if you have already sent your transcripts to LSAC: think positive. As I said: even if you received a bad (average) evaluation from LSAC, you can still get accepted to top law schools (Columbia, NYU...). Try to get a ranking from your university to show that you are far better than average or ask your recommenders to insert your ranking position in their letters of recommendation.

LSAC - HELP!!!
Hello,Fri Sep 25, 2009 09:34 AM I have sent my transcripts to LSAC and I am happy with their services, availability and timely support. In what concerns your specific problem, I think the only thing you can do is to ask for a reevaluation if you disagree with their analysis and have elements that can make them give you a different rating. LSAC - HELP!!!
The problem is that some schools like NYU require the LSAC service so I don't see what one could do to avoid a possibly unfair evaluation..

LSAC - HELP!!!
That's the reason why I used this service. However, afterwards I have heard that many applicants just applied to NYU without using LSAY or sucessfully asked for a waiver. Sat Sep 26, 2009 11:12 PM |

LSAC - HELP!!!
Hello to all,Sun Nov 22, 2009 12:02 PM I have the same problem, I just got an "above average" evaluation which I think is unfair, and I was wondering if any of you knew if it is possible to be accepted to Harvard or Columbia with that evaluation or if you think they only take "superior" students or students who send them directly their transcripts? Thank you so much, I haven't given my LSAC number to Universities yet and I am wondering whether I should sent my transcripts directly instead of using LSAC, at least for top Universities. |

LSAC - HELP!!!
I was "above average" too with these credentials (i guess non-French students won't understand, but still): Sun Nov 22, 2009 12:40 PM - top 20% (according to the Dean) for my first law degree at the Université de Versailles, which is a good University - 13.8/20 at the Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (best French law school, or 2nd best) of a Master I of Corporate Law. I had an official documentation from Paris I stating that "few students receive a GPA higher than 13/20". So i must be among top 10% or top 15%. - Master II of Corporate and Tax Law at the Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (degree in progress), which is the best (or the 2nd best) Master degree of Corporate/Tax Law in France. - HEC School of Management (expected graduation, 2010): ranked 1st Business school in Europe 4 years in a row by the Financial Times. I had good grades there. Plus, I completed my business studies and legal studies at the same time. So it was not easy at all to have those grades. Anyway, I applied to HLS/CLS/NYU etc., and I used the LSAC. The latter certified that they would send all official documentation from my universities (stating that I was among the top 20% of my class, or that only few students receive these grades, etc.) to the law schools. I guess that if they know the French system, my grades and my universities will be convincing enough. If they don't, not using the LSAC would not have changed anything. |

LSAC - HELP!!!
Thank you, I just sent you a PM, I am in the same situation as you are.Sun Nov 22, 2009 01:33 PM Does anyone else knows whether Harvard and Columbia really look at the evaluation done by LSAC or whether they will still look at my personal statement and recommendation letters even with an "above average" evaluation? Thank you so much! Hey everyone I wanted to tell you all an information I just got from LSAC : I just found out that the evaluation made by LSAC is not a general evaluation of all of one's degrees : the evaluation that appears on the first page only refers to the first degree in law. Being so restrictive, I guess the Universities do look at all the transcripts or at least at all the evaluations and not only at the first page of LSAC's evaluation. Good luck to you all! LSAC - HELP!!!
I got a friend graduated from Harvard with an LSAC report stating as "average".Tue Dec 01, 2009 08:22 PM So don't worry at all. By the way above average is the second highest thing in their report. Superior, Above Average, Average and Below Average... So I guess getting above average is not a problem. And they will definitely look at the rest of your application. |

LSAC - HELP!!!
Hi all,Thu Dec 10, 2009 05:02 PM I wouldn't worry about the LSAC interpretation. As far as I am aware, LSAC sends a copy of your transcripts to the schools alongwith the report they compile. Most schools I imagine will look at the transcripts. |

LSAC - HELP!!!
Hey everyone, I agree with the last 2 posts. I think the admissions office has been doing this long enough to know that they have to look beyond the LSAC grading to coreectly evaluate an applicant. Also, your application including your recommendations etc will reflect that your academic record has been 'above average'. So fret too much!Thu Dec 10, 2009 05:44 PM Having said this, I didn't use the service and every school gives you the option of waiving the LSAC service. It isn't mandatory for any of them. |
