Criminally based LLM

I am coming to the end of my LL.B ~ I am taking the BVC in 2006-2007 and I will also be applying for pupillage during this time, which I pray to Buddha I get, but it is probable that I will be unsuccessful, particularly during my first application. So, I need a fall back for 2007-2008 and it must be legally based in order to help me with my second attempt at securing pupillage.

I am largely interested in criminal law, human rights, EU law and family law - so these are areas that I would want to further my study in..

I am very active in Amnesty International, and spend a great deal of time campaigning for specific human rights and human rights awareness..

I am going to be rather broke after the LL.B and BVC, and I will definitely need to consider working (hopefully within a law firm or law department - again, must be legally based)..

So, I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me..

(a) the LL.M itself - any good advice? Something like International Criminal Law sounded right for me.. but do you have any other suggestions..

(b) where to study the LL.M?
I doubt very much that I will be able to study abroad, as would have been my most hopeful desire, I will just not be able to afford it, plus, I have cats!
I am based in London, but I wonder about distance learning and or part-time, weekend, evening study? Can anybody offer me some advice on studying part time or evenings etc?

Look forward to hearing from you!

Kind regards,

Claudia
