Yet another question about admission chances - "mature" students
Apologies for yet another question about admission chances for LLM programmes in London - doubtless this has been done before but I've been out of the student world for a long time!Tue Sep 29, 2009 06:09 PM Have been considering doing a part time LLM - and would like to apply to LSE - but the admission figures (rejection figures) are very offputting. So - if I have an ancient (1993) LLB from a good NZ university (I came first in my year) and 15 years' experience in private practice (I'm at a magic circle firm), do I have a reasonable chance? Or am I too old / distant from academic study? |

you'll probably get in easily wihout breaking a sweat. Heck, I don't think even oxford and cambridge would much of a problem since you were 1st in your year. Tue Sep 29, 2009 10:12 PM I also don't think age is an issue at all, just grades [Edited by Interalia on 29 Sep 2009] |

thanks guys - that's helpful (albeit that it removes any excuse I might have had for not proceeding). Looks like my weekend will be spent surfing the net and filling out application forms.....

Well, I've bitten the bullet and submitted my LSE application (the early bird catches the worm, and all that....), now to (i) wait and (ii) submit some more applications as I'm not all that hopeful....Fri Oct 16, 2009 03:48 PM Pucca - if I get in I'll buy you a drink! |

It does make a difference to apply early, as you have. You've given yourself the best shot at it, and it seems you have very good application anyway. Good luck with LSE, but there are a lot of great places, and you'll land somewhere fine.

thanks - I had the impression that LSE was more time critical - I will certainly be submitting applications elsewhere in the next couple of weeks - inevitably London-based as I have family.... am sure I am probably overthinking the whole process - I'm definitely reminding myself of the "adult students" that I studied with back in the dark ages.
