Hey there,
my query refers to the conversion of the German State Exam grades, therefore the following is in German:

Und zwar habe ich viele Gerüchte darüber gehört, was denn wohl Cambridge für eine Note im 1. Examen erwartet. Mal hört man 9, dann mal 11 und woanders auch mal 13 als Mindestvoraussetzung.
Mit welchen Punktzahlen wurdet ihr angenommen?
Habt ihr sonst mitbekommen, was man so für ne Punktzahl braucht, um relativ sicher mit einer Zusage rechnen zu können?
Ich selbst hab ein knappes "gut" im Ersten und werd wohl meine Diss. fertig haben, wenn der LLM ansteht, aber weiß nicht recht um meine Chancen...

Bin für jede Antwort dankbar!

PS: Ist die Mindestvoraussetzung in Oxford höher/niedriger/gleich? Dort ist die Bewerbung wegen der Arbeitsprobe + 3 Gutachten noch etwas mehr Aufwand.

I've been told that Cambridge demands a grade of 11.5 in the First State Legal Examination, whereas Oxford seems to accept a grade of "9 plus x". At least someone from my university was accepted with a grade of 9.8 at Oxford. You shouldn't have a problem at all with your grade. However, the deadline of the LL.M. programme of Cambridge ends way earlier than the one of Oxford (usually around the middle of November), so you should apply as soon as possible. Best of luck.

Cambridge accepted - at least in recent years - German students with less than 11.5 in their First State Legal Examination.

Thanks for the correction, the "11.5." requirement seems to be a widespread rumour, as I've heard it from several people. In any event, it's a shame that the deadline always is so early. They used to have interesting courses on EC law, but by the time I should've applied, I was still preparing for the oral examination of my state examination.
