Hi Ryker
my status say "under consideration"
My listed documents are all like yours: passed check, copy received...
I might call them soon.

mine say the same, other than my second reference which is listed as outstanding even though they confirmed that they had it when I called them two days ago. I am sulking.

I think you guys will be fine as long as your fourth email didn't note any documents as outstanding. They may not count the personal statement as a separate item, given that it doesn't need to be an attachment (it can be entered directly into the application form).

Thanks for the response, they've changed my staus into "under consideration", as well, though I've submitted all of my documents at once. So I guess my worries can now concentrate only on the outcome.

I am still sulking. They confirmed they had my second reference last week, and they have still not processed it; I telephoned yesterday, they said they hadn't downloaded it until 10 November (when I made my first phone call) and it should be processed yesterday.

I HATE waiting. Particularly when I know that they're not even considering my application yet ;(

Hmm - just rang again and they think a mistake was probably made in processing my second reference, the nice lady I spoke to this morning is going to print it off and add it to the file....

Which just goes to show that there is a point in chasing things up if nothing seems to be happening. I am not very impressed at having to make three calls, though.

Hi everyone,

Can someone please tell me if it is more likely for a student to be admitted into a top UK LL.M course if they have 1 or 2 years work experience under their belt?

I'm just unsure whether I should apply now, having just graduated, or wait until I have some experience?

Any help would be fantastic.

mooks146:

I am doing my LL.M. at a U.K. university, and I can tell you that there are quite a few people who have worked for a while before starting their LL.M. However, there is also a (surprisingly) large number of students who have come into the programme straight from law school. So, in my opinion, if you think that you have a reasonable chance of getting in, I would say go ahead and apply! Coming straight out of school should not, per se, be a disadvantage for you.

Thanks for the advice, really appreciate it. I guess there is no harm in applying now and seeing how I go.

This may be a stupid question, but should the personal statement be signed, i.e. "yours sincerely, [insert applicant's name]"?

Hi strawfoot,

Yes, I put something like that at the end of my personal statement, and then signed it.

I actually just made my personal statement to LSE a long covering letter, addressed, signed and all. Obviously, the content is the most important.

Don't be disheartened, your application will only be stronger next time around with more experience and extra curricular achievements under your belt.

Did they specifically tell you it was because of your LLB marks?

Hey, everyone. I had applied to the L.S.E and to NYU@NUS this year. I had completed my application in mid- October for both these courses. However, i have still not recieved any replies from both these places.

Have either of these institutions started declaring the results? Has the L.S.E started declaring the acceptances yet? I am just a bit confused because the L.S.E website mentioned that admissions would be on a rolling basis and so i was expecting a quicker reply. The NYU website especially, says that offers for the NYU@NUS course would be declared from the month of november!

It has been a long time since I applied and i am starting to lose hopw now. I don't know what to make of this long wait, esp. with reard to the L.S.E.

LSE took me quite some time to receive. November/early-December, I think, is quite early to expect a response. I wouldn't anticipate hearing anything until at least January or February.

I applied during the second week of October... it sucks!!! At least I'd had received UCL and KCL's offers before that... otherwise I'd be pulling my eyes out...
