JD or BA Law

While the programme is highly regarded in my country, I found that international law firms do not give much regard to it. The legal profession in my country is somewhat split - we have big local firms and international firms on the scene. I have worked for a big local firm for a couple of years and I would like to move on to get some experience with an international firm. This was when I realised that the international firms seldom, if at all, consider applications from graduates of local law schools. I was originally considering doing a masters programme in law in the US or the UK but a funding opportunity has been offered to be to work towards a JD in the US or a second LLB in the UK. My dilemma is that I am at a loss as to which to proceed on. I have sent applications out and received some offers on JD programmes in the US and LLB programmes in the UK. The laws in my country are based on the English common law system and some people have told me that it is useless to work towards a second LLB in the UK (even if the offer is from Oxbridge). However, I would like to get some more views form people who are or had been in similar circumstances.
