Is top 15% good enough for Ox?
Does anybody have an idea if graduating in the top 15% of your class is good enough for being admitted to Oxford? Tue Oct 04, 2005 08:24 AM If not, I don't think it makes sense to apply considering the significant application materials to be prepared/sent. I have a PhD, a dozen publications, was admitted to the bar four years ago and worked for two years as a clerk to the French Supreme Court and another two years at a large law firm thereafter. Thanks for your views in advance ! |

If you want to go to Ox that badly, you'll find the time to do the application. It's the beginning of a gruelling year at one of the best universities in the world...and u probably know it. Being top 15, 10 or 5% doesn't guarantee a place at Oxford. Seeing that you have much more than that to offer, why not give it a shot anyways...what can you lose???Thu Oct 06, 2005 04:27 PM All the best! |

Just out of curiosity: Why, having completed a PhD (presumably in law) and having practised for a significant time, do you want to go to Oxford and do the BCL or MJur? For the vast majority of people there it's the first postgraduate law degree they do, and for the few who want to stay in the academic world it's the gateway to the MPhil and the DPhil. You seem to be doing it the other way round - interesting!
