Hello,

I am a last year law student in Belgium and I am making some preparations to go to study in England but I will also send my application to some American universities, like the University of Chicago (not Northwestern) and Duke University.

What is the best time to send your applications?
Other question: what are my chances to get in. I received some two distinctions and a great distinction during my studies. Luckely I know some American professors.

Hi, I'm a last year law student in Belgium too (at the university fo Leuven).
I'm also preparing my applications to some Engisch universities e.g. King's College, UCL, LSE, Queen Mary. Could anyone tell me if I have a good chance at getting accepted with the following grades and rankings:
1st year: 67.5% (cum fructu) and ranked among the 30 best students in a class of 454
2nd year: 71.5% (cum laude) and ranked among the 22 best students in a class of 252
3rd year: 74% (cum laude) and ranked among the 22 best students in a class of 424
4th year: 74% (cum laude) and ranked among the 37 best students in a class of 348.

I also haven another question: Should I take the IELTS test before I send my applications or is it also possible to take them afterwards?

Having said that tho'...I think you have a far-more-than-average chance of gettin into QM and perhaps LSE if you apply early. LSE especially has increased chances when you get all your materials in early, and it helps for the scholarships too! As much as possible, get your stuff to them before Dec. QM will probably take you though even if you wait until next yr. Have never applied to UCL LLM but I imagine that LSE is probably the most strict of the London schools and gets the most applications from overseas.

Nicholas II - I can't speak for the USA, but in the UK you'd be as well to get your application in as early as the institution will allow. If you want a quick decision then make sure it reaches the institution well before the winter break, otherwise you'd be as well to leave it till the middle of January when everyone has come back from leave.

Koen, I'm sure your grades would secure interest from most Law Schools, your results show you have continually performed in the top bracket of learning (70%+)

And to everyone on this thread - don't forget to look to Scotland's universities too. Scotland hosts a number of the finest Law School's in Europe and can offer some exceptionally valuable educational, social and cultural experiences!

C. Miller, thank you for your reply. Which are the finest law schools in Scotland?
And in your opinion, what are the reasons why one should choose a Scottish law school when one has the choice between English and Scottish schools?
