Thanks Russ! They both sound good but the MIPLC one has quite a hefty tuition, almost like an American LLM

The MIPLC LLM is designed like an American LLM program and is taught by law professors from German and American universities and by lecturers from international institutions such as WIPO. I heard of someone who got a scholarship for this program, I think the MIPLC itself offers some kind of financial assistance (see www.miplc.de/)

Ok, that explains the tuition I guess, the Program is run by the George Washington Univ. as I now know. I had a look at some other German LLMs before and it seems like many of them do not even offer special LLM courses, so srudents basically just join the German undergraduate courses. So I was a little afraid this MIPLC would be similar. Anyway, thanks again for clarifying this issue!

I've a suggestion for IP LL.M programmes - study IP law by Internet based distance learning and you can base your studies from anywhere in the world with web access!

Check out the University of Edinburgh School of Law's LL.M programme via distance learning for an example of a "good" programme!

I wonder if my yacht would pick up a web signal in the Mediterranean ;-)

Hi everybody,
I think my experience can help you guys. I took the LLM in Munich last year and this year I am in Alicante.
The LLM in Munich is great, I loved it. You can get a tailor-made degree since there are lots of optional courses you can take. Hence, it's made both for lawyers and people with a scientific background. But yeah, the fees and the cost of living can be a problem.
Alicante is different, and I'm loving it too. First, it is a bilingual master. It's challenging because you have to be a person who can adjust easily to other languages. But I guess that part is one of the most interesting ones, since it allows you to develop another language and at the same time get your degree. And for that, you have to be a person who does not mind working hard and who is open enough to get to know a different culture (take my word for it...I'm not Spanish!).The Alicante master is mainly made for lawyers and it is very practical in that it addresses many issues occuring in the daily life of a lawyer.
Hope this helped!

I'm a student from Spain and I have currently been accepted to LLM IP programs at both MIPLC and GWU.

I was wondering if anybody has any thoughts on comparing.
Any replies would be appreciated.

I don't know enough about either program to compare them, however, I did receive my JD from GWU and know that the it has a summer exchange program with MIPLC, so there is a possibility in gaining both experiences.
