aberdeen is the place to be

I have just graduated from the LLM of Aberdeen and if you want to start a carreer in international tax law or oil and gas law, as well as commercial law it is the place to be.

All students have been recruited 3 months before finishing their LLM by top firms with a starting salary of 40.000£ per year.
Aberdeen is maybe only ranked 13 by the Times but believe me you will have an impressive return on investment!

Hi kyle!
This is very interesting information, could you add more details? I applied for the university of Aberdeen (Commercial Law), but never considered it that good.

Thanks, Reinhard

Hi kyle!
The information you gave us was really encouraging! Had you also been offered a position in a law firm? Which LLM program have you finished?

HI everybody!

In order to give you more details, I work for a consulting firm now in London (one of the big 4).

All in my friends now work in Oil and gas companies (mainly In Texas or Norway) and M§A departments (they were already lawyers).

Just to be sure: Are we talking about the Robert Gordon university or the other?
And can you say what makes the Commercial Law programme so special?

thanks,
reinhard

Hi,

I talk about the University of Aberdeen not Robert Gordon.
To give you more details about my year in Aberdeen I took four courses: International tax law, private international transactions, competition law, comparative company law.

You might say: it is not very original. It is quite true. To be honest I had geat difficulites to choose. In effect I was accepted at the university of Austin (texas) and Durham (GB in international trade and commercial law).

What makes the uni of Aberdeen so special is that you can find thanks to your teachers very good par time jobs for oil and gas companies or in international tax law (you can check easily the list of companies in Aberdeen). In 90% you will get the job you seek thanks to this process. Tips are given at the beginning of the year. However, you can trust me on the result and on the fact that I understand your situation. I tell you my personnal experience and believe me I think I have made the right choice...
Yours truly

Kyle, thanks again for your information - that was exactly what I was asking for!
Well I also applied for Durham, so maybe I'll make the same decision like you!

Cheers,
reinhard

Tut tut.......

I find it amazing that a generalized case is made from a few isolated incidents !
Aberdeen is not necessarily the best because it is based on the Oil sector and tax........

Graduates have jobs from Aberdeen this year because:
1) Its on the North Sea
2) American Oil companies (or other Oil Companies are located there)
3) Aberdeen has a good faculty for Oil and Gas
4) Crude Oil prices are at record highs over $51.00 per barrel
5) the Oil companies are making big profit windfalls

Do you remember when oil was at $10 a barrel and everyone is this sector was being made redundant. Not the speciality then was it?
