well, you have chances for JDMon Sep 06, 2010 11:22 AM LLM does not have need-based, they have a merit-based and you have to be darn great to get it. And yet they don't do the free-ride. I am pretty good and yet I got only 20k off from 2 top schools (not HYS). That was great but .... the full ride only through government - fulbright / irex but they have 2 years rule yuck (( you will have chances for free ride for 2tier and law there are some LLM programs with full support but as I said you can try [Edited by Lisa_I on 06 Sep 2010] |

It is not completely true that LLM does not have need-based scolarships! There is no doubt that most of scholarships are merit-based, but most of them also take into consideration your needs. You should also check out if there is no special scholarship for Arficans (I do not remember know which universities offer this scholarships, but is not unusual to find them).

We're talking about top-20 schools Mon Sep 06, 2010 10:29 PM those do not have need based scholarship for LLM, lower ranking does. As I wrote for these scholarship apply for 2nd-3rd tier It is not completely true that LLM does not have need-based scolarships! It is not true. Just an example: Mon Sep 06, 2010 10:48 PM Harvard Law School "All financial aid awards are primarily based on the applicant’s demonstrated financial need. Financial aid is offered in the form of both grants (scholarships) and loans. . . ." www.law.harvard.edu/prospective/gradprogram/llm/fi… |

In addition to needs-based scholarships, don't forget that some schools may also offer tuition waivers f you demonstrate an inability to pay. We had a user here who received a $30k tuition waiver from Columbia, so top tier schools definitely do this also. They specify that it's not a scholarship (need or merit-based) but there are measures many schools employ to assist students who demonstrate financial need.Tue Sep 07, 2010 07:48 PM To the original poster: I know that there are scholarships out there for people in certain regions or countries, so I encourage you to spend a lot of time searching on the net. I'm not from Africa so most of the scholarships I've come across in the past haven't concerned me, so I wouldn't know where to find them again - but they are there. All you have to do is look for them. Good luck. |
