HelloMon Jan 02, 2006 01:54 AM Does anyone could help me to find any official or unofficial ranking of Securities/Financial Regulation LLM? Also, is there any ranking of corporate law or insurance law LLM? THANK YOU VERY MUCH |

From my understanding, there are no official ranking of LLM programs. Indeed, US News & World report only ranks JD programs. So, if you're a foreign student looking for some legitimacy, then I’d suggest you attend a top law school (top 20). If you’re a U.S. student with a J.D., I’d simply attend a school that has the right program for you. Large firms will only look at your J.D. school and put very little emphasis on your LLM school, unless, of course, you’re a foreign student. ther is no official rankin,,so u shud individually look up law skools n compare ther strengths in ur subjects,,no substitute 2 personal research..Tue Jan 03, 2006 09:43 AM nevertheless as far as i kno Georgetown, NYU, Boston, Northwestern and Harvard are considered good in corporate law and securities.. and connecticut law school offers an llm in insurance law,,tht shud help i gues..bt its jan n i think u shud start spendin much more time on ur applications now n dispatch thm at th earliest.. |

I heard HLS has a special LLM program called international finacial system, and Duke Law School is femous for its securities law; New York Law School noted for its corporation law as well as international tax law. From my point of view, if your are students other than Americans you'd better choose a top 20 Law School for the porpuse that you can attend the Bar exam of some states.

I am not aware of any rankings for LL.M. What I suggest that you bear in mind, however, is that you want to be in a program that is neither too big (where students receive little personal attention) nor too small (where you get to know only few people). Our program at Duke has just the right size (about 80 people), which means that me and my friends receive a lot by way of personal assistance from our professors and yet - get to know many people, from all over the world. The program has definitely opened dorrs for me and for many of my coursemates.
