Has anyone heard from GULC?
Received my admissions email yesterday, now struggling with a three way choice; GULC, Cornell and Duke!

You should pick GULC big time. I visited Cornell, Duke and GULC and GULC is my first choice (location, program and professors). Are you coming to the Open House at GULC on March 18? I hope to see you there.

Hi, I was offered a scholarship at the beginning of February, its not much though. I think scholarship decisions are made on a rolling basis...

Does anyone know if GULC give substantial amounts at all (like more than $20,000)? Or is it limited to smaller amounts?

I can't give a number amount, but they have told me scholarship decisions should be made in early April. At this stage, I am so exhausted from the application process I am not going to panic any more - just sit and wait and make a responsible decision.

thesestreets I agree with you. I will do the same, Just sit back and relax. I will have to make a decision with or without financial assistance. All the best to you.

GULC or Cornell or GWU
Pursuant to ranking (2012), Cornell (#13) comes first with behind GULC (# 14) and then GWU (#20). It all depends what you want to achieve. Cornell is a great school with a great reputation. However, it is located in Upstate New York. The weather is bad there and it is isolated. However, Georgetown and GWU are in a prime location - downtown DC. DC is the nation capital of the US and there is alot to do. You are going to do an LLM to study but also to network. At the end of the day, you want to secure a job in the US or elsewhere. You need to take advantage of the location of the School and to attend event (diplomatic or other). Also, Georgetown has an externship program. You know, having intern with the World Bank for instance, it will not only be a fantastic experience but it looks great on a resume (an it will be raise at interview believe you me). If I were you, Georgetown (well-known institution worldwide) will be my first choice (name, location, programme of studies). Goodluck to you.

GULC or Cornell or GWU
Hi hij0nWed Mar 23, 2011 03:13 PM If you check your online status, at a point, it will change to "decision" from "complete" and in a day or two, you will receive an email re your admission or rejection. So you dont need to go crazy checking your online status all the time :) it makes waiting harder! |

Even if other universities were ranked higher, the name of Georgetown is more known at an international level (but of course I am not an expert of carreer advices ;) BTW, the others sound also nice, congrats!! |

Scholarship/Enrolment
I had got admitted by Georgetown but there was no word of scholarship. Does it mean I have not been awarded any kind o financial assistance?? BTW they also dont announce any deadline for announcing our reply just set the deadline of 15 April as time for first installment of 300 dollars...so it serves as the deadline for declaring our will for enrollment as well???

Scholarship/Enrolment
I am in as of Apr 1 with same deadline. I asked them about scholarship, they saidMon Apr 04, 2011 08:32 PM Regarding your scholarship inquiry, unfortunately, the Admissions Office does not award general tuition waivers to U.S. educated students. However, you may apply for student loans through our Financial Aid Office. |

Scholarship/Enrolment
Mon Apr 04, 2011 09:10 PM I am in as of Apr 1 with same deadline. I asked them about scholarship, they said Do they mean full scholarship by "general tuition waivers"? I think we now that they do not award full scholarship but I mean some kind of waiver for a portion of tuition, so it is not awarded as well? |
