I am applying to Wake Forest law school, but now I am stuck on the personal statement. Any hints or tips?

Present yourself (who are you, why are you interested in studying in the US for LL.M. with respect to past experiences and plans for future; anything which signifies you are interesting (e.g. career specialties));
present a research topic you want to pursue;
why Wake Forest (good professor in XY law etc.).

Regards,

Yps.

refer to thez threads:
www.llm-guide.com/board/7958;
www.llm-guide.com/board/6451 and
www.llm-guide.com/board/6200 .

this shud giv u sum idea altho always remember th basics. It shud b your own work (admissions committee people have been readin PS's for years now and it dosent take them ong to figure out original from non-original PS).
Explain why you want to do your master's..explain your credentials,,why you are interested in that field of law (if you've decided),,your career plans..thez r jus a few things,,it rally depends upon what you wud want th admission guys to know about you..
also..PS is a substitute for an interview..so write it like one..word it nicely (dont copy tho..take your time!)..hope tis helps..

Any ideas on roughly how long it should be? Is one A4 page too short?

I've written mine kinda like a story of my life with law and the US.

normally th law skool wud tell you how long the PS shud be (for instance columbia says 3 pages, harvard 1500 words, arizona 8 pages..northwestern n cornell n NYU also specify th limit)..but in th absence of any instruction to that effect about 3-4pages should be enough to explain ur story!!

OMG, and I have always been one to keep it short. I have sent an e-mail to Wake asking how long they approximately want it. I guess I will have to rewrite the whole thing ;)

Btw, this is what the application says. Not very informative as to length.

PERSONAL STATEMENT
Please write and attach a personal statement in English telling us about yourself. Explain your reasons for pursuing an
LL.M. degree in American law and how you plan to use your graduate law degree. Describe what particular course of
study you would like to pursue. Tell us how you think you will adapt to living and studying in a foreign environment.

basic advice - you should make sure to answer the whole question and present your answer in an organized way.
