Hi

I'm looking for a good IP program at the american university. I've already read about strong IP sites as GW , Stanford , Harvard. But I know that they specialize - eg. Harvard Berkman's Centre is aimed at providing "general Internet policy" courses. Most of the course descriptions are very laconic (Stanford)

Here goes the question : do you know which University provides the best courses on licensing, transferring IP in the international context ? In particular I'm interested with IT issues. If you could help I’d appreciate

P.s. have you heard sth good about Chicago LLM program on International IP ?

Thanks a lot, but I've already read it. It doesn't help a lot because :
a) I would rather study in Europe
b) it doesn't answer the question - which one is (or seems to be) the best "at international IP transactions"

at this stage of my legal education I'm looking for something practical , ensuring knowledge I could use in my everyday work (international IT transactions)

Yes, I know MILPC is good, but mayby there are some other good programs ?

Ok. I do not know about European programs, except that I have heard about the MIPLC which is a US-style LLM program run by GW Law and Max Planck Insitute (the latter is one of the most renowned research insitutes in Germany).

If you want to get helpful answers on European programs you should probably also post your question in the "Europe" section of the board!

Thanks for your check my other board comments. I may suggest you some other choices of your applications in my experience of international IP/IT issues as a practitioners and an educator at Japanese and U.S. universities. I have some good contacts with European professors of IP and IT.

If you think about more IP/IT related program in Europe, I recommend you to think about also Queen Mary College/Institute of Commercial Law of University of London. They offer a LL.M. and a special IP program with some knowledgeable scholars about IP and IT. If you are more involved with Copyright issues, you may think about University of Amsterdam LL.M. too as well as MILPC program in Munich. Amsterdam has Professor Hugenholt as an expert of Copyright issue in cyberspace and EU regulation.

It is not easy to find a good program especially in LL.M. to learn international IP licensing issue especially relating to IT because it is too advanced and practical areas. However, maybe you can check some programs, as U.S. programs, at Geroge Washington, Frankline Piers, Cardozo and John Marshall(Chicago). Most of prestigious top schools do not offer such a very practical course of IP/IT and are more interested in academic and policy making matters like Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, NYU and UC Berkeley's programs.

As a top notch program, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers International Technology Transfer for licensing, Cyberspace law plus other traditional IP subjects(Copyright, Patent, Trademark & Unfair Competition, etc.). Teir professors teaching these subjects are true reputable current international practitioner and academic scholars having good experience in IP and IT. As you may know, it is a good evironment to learn IT related matters in relation to Law and Policy there as a birth place of Mozaic and Eudora. They publish also University of Illinois Journal of Law, Technology & Policy and conduct also Summer IP Programs including IT issues in cooperation with Oxford University and University of Victoria(Canada).

You may find similar programs at University of Washington(Seattle) too.
