Hi!
I have sent out applications and all other documents to all LSE, UCL and KCL. Now I have to wait... but for how long? Do all of these schools make decision on addmission in about the same time? I would expect to know whether I am addmitted or rejected in no more than two months or should it take even more? I would appreaciate if you share your experience, since waiting and knowing how long to wait is not very pleasant. Thanx!

Hi,
I've applied to the LSE and a few other universities (including SOAS and Queen Mary in London) on Dec 5th.
In general, most universities say they will notify admission or rejection within 6 or 8 weeks so I'm hoping to receive some answers end of January or beginning of February.

Thanx for reply. So I was right on expecting to get answers within 8 weeks. After getting all that paperwork done, waiting for decision seems to be the easiest part. Wish you good luck on getting into your first choice university!

Good luck to you too!

By the way, I got my first conditional offer today from Nottingham (application sent Dec 5th, acceptance Jan 6th).

Well, congratulations! I also thought about apply there but I didn't, since I got their 2006/07 prospectus and it mentioned that they will not offer LLM (joint masters) in International commercial law. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed for LSE, UCL and King's.

Congratulations fburnat
I also got my first conditional offer: from Queen Mary (application sent the first week of December, acceptance the 2nd of January).

UCL, LSE, KCL and Edinburgh seem to take a little more time before making a decision. (I have sent all my applications at the same time.)

Good luck with your applications!

Thanks in advance.

UCL sent me a letter about two weeks after I had submitted my application. The acknowledgement letter states a date by which I should receive their decision.

KCL hasn't acknowledged yet, but KCL has just started with processing applications. I expect an e-mail from KCL in the near future...

Any person receives reply from LSE so far? I sent my application in early Nov, but still no news.

Only a few e-mails that my application was complete and that I could check the status of my application online...

Same status for the LSE. But they also said on their website that they would send out decisions beginning Late January 2006 (on this page : www.lse.ac.uk/resources/graduateProspectus2006/tau…).

I guess that means in two or three weeks.

Hello you all,

I am new in here.

I have sent almost all paperwork to LSE – except one of the reference letters – just before Christmas. I did it through the on-line forms.

I have already received LSE acknowledge e-mail, in which they mention they have downloaded my application documents, but that my file is incomplete (due to the missing reference letter).

Since my desired referee is in vacation, and he is due to be back only by the end of next week, this situation will not be fixed on the next few days.

This is the situation I ask for your advise: Would you believe that it would be too late to wait for such referee? Should I try another one? Or perhaps my place in the queue is set, since part of the paperwork was already filed?

Thanks and good luck to everyone.

G

To my mind, until your file is complete, you are not already in the queue set. You will be in the queue set only when your application file is complete and it has been sent to the department for consideration (because the Graduate Admissions Office and the Law Department are two separate offices).
One week is not that long (after all, it may take you as long to find another referee and for him to write your reference), it's very difficult to say whether it could affect your chances. Good luck anyway!

It sort of depends on what you mean. Is it that you've asked this person and they will have your reference ready in a week when they get back or is it that you planned on asking this person. If its the former wait because it may take several weeks for a new lecturer to write a reference if its the latter ask someone else for the same reason.

I have just received an e-mail confirming my referee has filed the last reference letter and that documentation is now complete.

I only hope this is not too late…

Thanks you all

Hey Gaa, don't worry about getting your application in by the end of next week - you have at least till the end of the month before you should start worrying. I spoke to the lady in the postgrad department yesterday and she said that places are usually available to the end of Feb.

Hope this puts you at ease - if not, contact postgrad admissions and they will confirm what I have said above.

Good luck,
James
