The Israeli legal community has always been
attentive to changes and new developments in the international legal arenas.
Today, more than ever, when commerce and corporate activity are operating
world wide, and human rights are becoming a significant factor in the
globalization process, the Israeli law should be influenced and enriched by
other countries’ legal systems. Therefore, the Faculty is in the process of
establishing different programs that will enable both students and faculty
members to engage in global legal education.
University
of Haifa in the EMLE Programme
The Haifa Law School is the first
non-European Law school to become a full
member of the European programme in
Law and Economics. This is a one year programme towards a Master in Law and
Economics, where the student spends three trimesters in three different
universities. The University of Haifa
is a third term university in this programme. About
10 Israeli students are being admitted to the programme annually. The Haifa Law
School is also a foreign
affiliated member of the American Association of Law Schools - AALS
.
Erasmus Mundus Grants
for European Students in the EMLE Programme
Our faculty has been recognized by the
European Union as the only
action 3 partner of the EMLE programme course. The European Union
allocates Grants to 10 European EMLE students
who study their third term in
Haifa each year. In addition, as an action 3 partner, each year three
prominent European scholars will spend two months during the third term of
the programme at Haifa, conducting research together with Israeli scholars.
Global Law Program
Another aspect of our
Global Law Program is exchange of students with leading law schools
around the world. Under exchange agreements our students are invited to
spend 1-2 semesters abroad and foreign students are invited to study with
us. As from the forthcoming academic year we shall be offering 5 elective
courses and seminars in English. The Faculty is also a foreign affiliated
member of the American Association of Law Schools - AALS.
Erasmus Law and
Economics Review
EREL
embodies the two main characteristics of the Law and Economics approach,
namely interdisciplinarity and internationality, carrying out an experiment
to demonstrate, with the hard work of its members (and sometime with the
necessary help of game theory), that a cooperative behaviour can pierce the
veil of general ignorance.
