LL.M./PgD

This includes the following qualifications:

  • LL.M./PgD European and International Trade Law
  • LL.M./PgD International Contracting
  • LL.M./PgD European law
  • LL.M./PgD European and International Law

Introduction

The LL.M. programmes have been developed to serve the needs of professionals already practising in the area of international trade, and who may need to update their knowledge of law as part of their continuing professional development.

They are in response to the growing interest in European and international trade law and contracting. They cover a range of areas of law that provide you with legal expertise not linked to a particular national legal system, but applicable across all European legal systems and beyond.

The programmes are designed in anticipation of future needs of employers, particularly the need to employ professionals who are prepared for changes. We have students from across the world, though particularly from the Middle East and all Member States of the European Union.

Teaching staff have up-to-date, relevant expertise and experience of working in the areas of international trade and economic law, comparative and international contract law and European union law. They also have a joint interest in research of various aspects of European/international trade and contractual laws.

Division of Law

They are taught within the Division of Law at the school, which has a strong identity as a provider of legal education in the West of Scotland, and this is a strong feature in its lecturing, research and commercialisation activities. In fact, the division was awarded a 3B in the Research Assessment Exercise - an excellent result for a division that only came into existence in 2000, with the school itself formed in 2002.
