The Amsterdam Leiden Columbia summer programme in Law provides a general introduction into the American legal system with emphasis on areas of particular interest to European lawyers. The programme runs for 4 weeks, and takes alternately in Amsterdam and Leiden each summer in July and August. Even years Leiden, odd years Amsterdam.
Tulane University School of Law organises its 16th summer programme in the Amsterdam Law School from 3 July to 2 August 2008. The programme is organised for American students but ten students of our faculty are invited to participate in the programme free of charge (that is, the fee is waived. Study materials need to be purchased, estimated to amount of € 60). The programme consists of two sessions of two weeks each. The first session starts on 7 July and consists of 4 courses (terrorism; international human rights; international criminal law; international criminal tribunals), followed by examinations. The second session also consists of 4 courses (comparative criminal law; international law and the death penalty; international women's rights; refugees and stateless persons), followed by examinations.
Whittier Law School organises, for the second time in Amsterdam, a summer programme on sexual orientation and the law for American students, at the Amsterdam Law School from 8 July to 5 August 2008. Five students of our faculty are invited to participate in the programme, free of charge. The programme focuses on `sexual orientation and the law' and consists of 2 two-week sessions. This year's program includes courses on gay and lesbian parenting, the legal issues of LGBT youth, AIDS and international law, international human rights law and the LGTB community. In addition, several other courses will be offered that focus on specialised topics within the struggle for LGBT equality.
