Application procedure

See below for information about entry in 2008-09. Once you have been in touch with us to establish whether we would be in a position to support your proposed research within The City Law School, if the initial response is positive you will need to proceed with the formal application procedure. The application form and information on how to make a formal application for a research degree at City can be found via the Research Degrees web pages, along with general information about undertaking research studies at City University.

Applications for entry in 2008-09: The Law section of the University studentship pages lists the particular topics on which we would be pleased to receive applications for entry in 2008-09.

Fees and funding

Fees for new entrants to full-time research degree studies in law in 2008-09 are £10,000 per annum for both UK/EU and overseas fee-paying students (part-time studies are charged on a pro-rata basis). The School is usually able to offer opportunities for its research students to undertake some paid teaching on the academic programmes. The University also has a research studentship scheme to which the School can nominate its best applicants annually. A University research studentship was awarded to a law candidate in each of 2005 and 2006.
