The University

The university has been home to many of Germany's great thinkers, among them Johann Gottlieb Fichte, Friedrich Schleiermacher, G.W.F. Hegel, Savigny, and Arthur Schopenhauer, Albert Einstein, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The university has procduced 29 Nobel Prize winners.

The Program

The LL.M. (Legum Magister) and the M.LL.P. (Master of German and European Law and Legal Practice) are open to applicants who hold a foreign law degree equivalent to the German "Erstes Staatsexamen". The one-year LL.M. aims at providing substantial knowledge of German law. The two-year M.LL.P. is designed for students who want to gain a broader theoretical and practical knowledge of both German and European Law. Location

Fifteen years since the Wall fell, and Berlin can still feel like two cities – not just east and west, but also winter and summer. Plus, if your mental image of the German capital derives from war films or spy stories, prepare to be pleasantly surprised by one of the greenest cities in Europe. This thoroughly modern metropolis has always been a bit of a bolthole for the bohemian and unconventional, but today it is a major cultural centre combining top-flight museums, galleries and concert halls with thriving alternative art and music scenes. The nightlife carries on through morning and there’s every kind of eating to be had.
