The University
Danube University Krems has specialised in postgraduate academic studies and offers exclusive courses in the fields of Economics and Management, Telecommunications, Information and Media, European Integration, Environmental and Medical Sciences as well as of Cultural Studies. Being a European model project, Danube University Krems combines high quality in education, research and consulting with excellent customer orientation and service. New standards in postgraduate university studies are set through our commitment to the principles of lifelong learning and through our international orientation. During the summer term of 2005, more than 3000 students from 40 countries are enrolled in over 100 academic courses. Danube University Krems was founded in 1994 and teaching started here in 1995 with three courses and 93 students. The model project of Lower Austria already is the largest provider of postgraduate continuing education in Austria. Danube University Krems is now striving to become the leading competence center of advanced university education in central Europe within the next few years.
The majority of the students of Danube University Krems has a university degree. Therefore, the main part of university teaching in Danube University Krems consists of courses which are concluded with an internationally recognised Master’s degree such as Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Laws (LL.M.). The range of courses offered here extends from Professional MBA Biotech & Pharma Management to EURO-JUS, solar architecture and extended courses in dentistry, E-business management and intercultural competencies. Danube University Krems also offers a number of short courses and seminars.
Until 2005, Danube University Krems will be expanded to become Campus Krems, which will feature a research center, a festival hall, an arts cinema, a library, and a cafeteria. An approximate 52,4 million euros will be invested into the novel facilities, making Campus Krems Austria’s largest construction project in the field of education. After its completion, the university premises will be home to 4000 students and over 450 employees of Danube University Krems, IMC Fachhochschule Krems (University of Applied Sciences) and NÖ Bildungsgesellschaft mbH (Educational Society of Lower Austria), providing space for working, learning, and teaching. Campus Krems will provide the region with a new landmark of international acclaim.
Location

Danube University Krems is located in one of Europe’s most beautiful cultural landscapes. The city of Krems, along with the surrounding Wachau region, have been named a world cultural heritage site by the UNESCO. Furnished very modern, Danube University Krems is situated in the old Stein tobacco factory, a characteristic industrial building dating back to the onset of the 20th century. The building adapted provides students and educators with an open, innovative, and motivational atmosphere for research and studying. Cosmopolitan, yet, rooted in its location, Danube University Krems represents a local center for culture and meeting.
