The Program

The “Master of Advanced Studies in International Organisations” is designed for all those who wish to acquire or deepen specialist legal knowledge in the field of international organisations because they are working in this field or are planning to do so. With its emphasis on both, theoretical knowledge as well as practical, case related solutions, the programme will enable participants to qualify for positions in international organisations and provide them with a valuable advantage in the respective labour market.


The programme primarily addresses university graduates with relevant professional experience who are currently working in or cooperating with international organisations or are planning to do so. As diversity is crucial to us, we welcome students from all over the world. In order to specifically meet the needs of practitioners working in International Organisations or going to do so in the near future, we offer several modules within the master programme as certificate courses. They last 1 month consisting of 75 hours. Successful graduates receive the title “Certificate of Advanced Studies” (CAS)in the respective field

Entry Requirements

Application for the Master of Advanced Studies in International Organisations (MASIO)
The postgraduate course “International Organisations” is designed for individuals interested in working with or in international organisations. Relevant professional experience is not a prerequisite but may be an advantage when applying for the programme. Applicants should hold a university degree on a Master's level in law, economics, social sciences or an equivalent degree. An additional entry requirement is a high command of English which is the sole course language.

Application for the Certificate of Advanced Studies in International Organisations (CAS)

Applicants for a CAS course should also hold a university degree on Master's level in law, economics, social sciences or an equivalent degree. An additional entry requirement is a high command of English which is the sole course language. (www.masio.uzh.ch/application/paper.html)

Tuition and Fees

The tuition fees for the study program 2008 amount to a total of CHF 27`500.-. Costs for course materials, break refreshments, end of semester dinner and other events as well as examination fees are included. Not included are the costs for study excursions, accommodation and board and specialized literature.

The tuition fees for the specialisation courses amount to a total of CHF 7'500.-. Fees include the costs for course materials, break refreshments, end of semester dinner and possible further events.
