The Program

Inside Sargent Hall

Technology is transforming the way lawyers think and work. Globalization is transforming the law itself. To be competitive in this new world requires special skills and knowledge. Graduate study abroad is the passport successful lawyers need for the transnational practice of law in the 21st century.

Everyone needs to know something about how the rest of the world thinks, acts and does business; no matter where you live and work, you will need to broaden your horizons and comprehend the whole world of law, from tax to domestic relations, corporations to contracts.

Suffolk University Law School’s LL.M. in Global Law and Technology will prepare you to meet the needs of advanced study and specialization for lawyering in a global world.

With an average incoming class of 30 students, the program is small enough to be friendly and big enough to be important. Students have come from 37 countries from around the world. Social and networking events are held on a regular basis.

The LL.M. curriculum is primarily elective in nature. LL.M. students may choose from any of more than 200 courses that are offered each year at Suffolk Law. Whether you have a special interest in alternative dispute resolution, corporate finance, or law and literature - there’s something for everyone!

Students may also choose to specialize in one or more of the four designated areas:
• Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law
• Biomedicine and Health Law
• International Law and Business
• U.S. Law and Legal Methods

Candidates may earn up to two specializations and will be awarded a certificate, in addition to their diploma at graduation.

Twenty four (24) credits are required to complete the LL.M. degree in Global Law and Technology. Initial enrollment in the fall or spring semesters is available. Full and part-time schedules are available too, making the program convenient and accessible to local lawyers, who are looking for a competitive edge in today’s tough legal market and international lawyers, who recognize the value of U.S. legal education.

Students are required to enroll in one required seminar, Issues of Law, Policy, and Ethics in Global Technology, and to complete a legal writing requirement.

Our dedicated LL.M. career and internship advisor will assist you from day one. The LL.M. has been a success in producing increased and improved career opportunities for its graduates.
