The Law School

New York Law School, one of the oldest independent law schools in the United States, was founded in 1891 by the faculty, students, and alumni of Columbia College Law School led by their founding dean, Theodore Dwight, a major figure in the history of legal education. In 1894, the Law School established one of the nation's first evening
divisions to provide those in the workforce, or with family
obligations, a flexible alternative to full-time legal studies.

From its inception, New York Law School's lower Manhattan location, in the midst of the country's largest concentration of government agencies, courts, law firms, banks, corporate headquarters, and securities exchanges, has made immersion in the legal life of a great city an essential part of the School's identity and curriculum.

The Program

New York Law School offers four graduate degree programs that provide the specialized skills and knowledge you need to stand out in today's job market and in the years ahead.

LL.M./Certificate in Financial Services Law

Our newest graduate program will open in the fall of 2009. Students will develop knowledge and expertise in the law, business, and regulation of the global financial services industry.

LL.M. in Real Estate

The Graduate Real Estate Program provides all students with a thorough grounding in the law, business, documentation, and regulation of real estate transactions, finance, and development.

LL.M. in Taxation

The Graduate Tax Program enables LL.M. students to build a firm foundation in tax and pursue a concentration in depth. The program emphasizes advanced training in tax research and practice-oriented writing, as well as practical experience through externships.

M.A./Certificate in Mental Disability Law Studies

The Online Mental Disability Law Program provides the knowledge and tools needed to bring about effective change in the lives and treatment of people with mental disabilities.
