The Law School

JurGrad gGmbH was founded in the summer of 2002 and is the supporting organisation for continuing education of the Faculty of Law of the University of Muenster. As a recognised non-profit institution, Jurgrad encourages further education at the university and currently offers six Master’s courses in the areas of “Mergers and Acquisitions”, “Private Wealth Management”, “Real Estate Law”, “Tax Law”, “Insurance Law” and “Business Law”. All of the Master’s programmes, with the exception of “Business Law”, take place while participants carry out their professional commitments. All are geared towards men and women with a professional qualification in the area of law or business law.
The Program

MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS
This course was conceived through the close collaboration between academics and professionals and therefore ideally meets the concerns of business in practice. In three semesters, participants learn from a practice-oriented standpoint the legal and business oints of mergers and acquisitions. The course is taught in co-teaching teams of university professors and renowned internationally experienced professionals. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive one of the following degrees: “Master of Laws” (LL.M) or “Executive Master of Business Administration” (EMBA).
PRIVATE WEALTH MANAGEMENT
Inheritance Law – Estate Management – Asset Management
This Master programme is concerned with the steadily increasing need for comprehensive and coordinated care of private wealth. The aim of this course is to provide lawyers as well as economists with three semesters of practice-oriented knowledge in the areas of inheritance law, taxes, and asset management. The interdisciplinary contents of this course provide the participants with a comprehensive education which is indispensable considering the increasingly complicated questions and expectations directed at consultants. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive, depending on their course focal point, either the “LL.M” or the “EMBA”.
REAL ESTATE LAW
This course came into existence due to the increasing importance of property laws and the variety of new ways of working in this area; for example with closed and open property funds, real estate stock corporations, public private partnerships, etc. This interdisciplinary course teaches real estate law as a complete package, including its economic foundations as well as the large variety of related offers available in the last few years. As a result of this course, participants will be able to competently advise clients in all areas of basic legal and economic questions which arise within the framework of acquisition, sale, financing and management of real estate and real estate investments. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive the degree “Master of Laws” (LL.M).
TAX LAW
This course aims to provide lawyers and economists with an in-depth knowledge of tax law. As it extensively covers the tax system, participants obtain an excellent comprehensive understanding of the subject. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive either the “LL.M” or the “EMBA”.
INSURANCE LAW
This course which is offered by the Faculty of Law in cooperation with the Muenster Research Organisation for Insurance provides participants with an in-depth knowledge in the area of insurance law. All the essential aspects of this extremely broad and varied subject area are covered by esteemed and well-known lecturers and clearly explained on the basis of actual case studies. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive the degree “Master of Laws” (LL.M).
BUSINESS LAW
This course combines an extensive theoretical knowledge of the subject with its application in every-day business practice. Participants receive comprehensive knowledge of national and international company law, capital market regulation, labour law, bankruptcy law, group law, anti-trust law, etc. as well as the skills needed to recognise and solve practice-related problems.
