I wonder what it the average and maximum age of LLM participants. I understand that one shouldn't bother himself with such questions and file application. However, what interests me is the age at which there is a chance to be employed by a US law firm. I am 30 and will graduate with LLM Degree in a year. Will firms consider the 31 year old guy with 8 years of "russian blue chip in-house" experience for the position of mid-level associate? Anyway, what is the range in terms of age?

From my personal experiences and from what I heard I can tell you that the average age in the US and UK is about 26 years. There will be some students aged 22, but there will also be many students around 30 - so you should not worry too much about being exotic if you start an LLM now! In some countries students take the LLM after finishing the whole legal education including bar school.

As regards the law firms it very much depends on in which country you want to work. In countries such as Denmark or Germany the age of 31 will not be a problem for law firms if you have done something useful so far. If you want to work in an international law firm, the LLM year will always be helpful, as it is regarded as a proof of your proficiency in English. If you are a native speaker this my not be too important, of course...

A friend of mine did his LLM when he was 31. He got a job at Linklaters within one month after finishing his Masters.

Does Linklaters have offices in Poland?

Yes, they have an office in Warsaw (like many big international law firms). But my friend is working in a German Linklaters office, as he is German himself.
